چکیده

Abstract. We study colorings of the hyperbolic plane, analogously to the Hadwiger-Nelson problem for the Euclidean plane. The idea is to color points using the minimum number of colors such that no two points at distance exactly d are of the same color. The problem depends on d and, following a strategy of Kloeckner, we show linear upper bounds on the necessary number of colors. In parallel, we study the same problem on q-regular trees and show analogous results. For both settings, we also consider a variant which consists in replacing d with an interval of distances.

The comparison of two high-order semi-discrete central schemes for solving hyperbolic conservation laws

This work presents two high-order, semi-discrete, central-upwind schemes for computing approximate solutions of 1D systems of conservation laws. We propose a central weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) reconstruction, also we apply a fourth-order reconstruction proposed by Peer et al., and afterwards, we combine these reconstructions with a semi-discrete central-upwind numerical flux ...

Chromatic Numbers of Hyperbolic Surfaces

Abstract. This article is about chromatic numbers of hyperbolic surfaces. For a metric space, the d-chromatic number is the minimum number of colors needed to color the points of the space so that any two points at distance d are of a different color. We prove upper bounds on the d-chromatic number of any hyperbolic surface which only depend on d. In another direction, we investigate chromatic ...

Geometric properties of hyperbolic geodesics

In the unit disk D hyperbolic geodesic rays emanating from the origin and hyperbolic disks centered at the origin exhibit simple geometric properties. The goal is to determine whether analogs of these geometric properties remain valid for hyperbolic geodesic rays and hyperbolic disks in a simply connected region Ω. According to whether the simply connected region Ω is a subset of the unit disk ...

A zero-free interval for chromatic polynomials

Woodall, D.R., A zero-free interval for chromatic polynomials, Discrete Mathematics 101 (1992) 333-341. It is proved that, for a wide class of near-triangulations of the plane, the chromatic polynomial has no zeros between 2 and 2.5. Together with a previously known result, this shows that the zero of the chromatic polynomial of the octahedron at 2.546602. . . is the smallest non-integer real z...

An Extension of Poincare Model of Hyperbolic Geometry with Gyrovector Space Approach

‎The aim of this paper is to show the importance of analytic hyperbolic geometry introduced in [9]‎. ‎In [1]‎, ‎Ungar and Chen showed that the algebra of the group $SL(2,mathbb C)$ naturally leads to the notion of gyrogroups ‎and gyrovector spaces for dealing with the Lorentz group and its ‎underlying hyperbolic geometry‎. ‎They defined the Chen addition and then Chen model of hyperbolic geomet...
